Tanzania ... so far

We're into day 2 of the Tanzania portion of our safari and it's been eventful ... starting with a never-ending (7 hour) bus ride from Nairobi to Arusha that exhausted us both and left me longing for the beach! On day 1 of the actual safari we had a bit of an incident when the vehicle we were all riding in rolled down the embankment by accident (long story for later) and lodged itself against a tree that broke the passenger window I was sitting beside and knocked it out of its frame. We were all fine and the vehicle was pulled out and we eventually carried on. We stayed at Lake Manyara campground and visited the game park a yesterday and today. We spotted lots of beautiful birds and hundreds of baboons throughout the park, along with some grazers and a family of elephants this morning. Didn't see the famous tree climbing lions but may be just as well since we're in a vehicle that the top is rolled back on and so is completely open to the sky. Tanzania is much greener than Kenya and gets much more water so is quite humid ... the heat feels sticky and thick and last night was hot all night. I'm looking forward to a shower this evening after our afternoon walk. Moving on to a different campsite tonight and will meet with members of the Iraqw tribe later today so will enjoy that.
Will run out of time soon so much run - love to everyone and more stories of our adventures to follow.
